Staff Software Engineer

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll apply your expertise in AI/ML and full-stack development to co-lead the creation of autonomous, AI-driven applications that reason and plan. You will join a high-impact team building intelligent systems that combine traditional software engineering with emerging AI capabilities to transform how people interact with applications. You will collaborate with researchers, product managers, and engineering peers.

Responsibilities:

• Building, and scaling full-stack agentic applications using modern web frameworks, microservices, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Designing and implementing intelligent agents capable of dynamic decision-making, planning, and multi-step task execution using LLMs.
• Developing and deploy GenAI pipelines with advanced techniques such as RAG, prompt orchestration, tool use, and memory management.
• Leading end-to-end development using technologies like Python, TypeScript, React, Node.js, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Integrating and fine-tuning open-source and proprietary AI models. Staying current with trends in AI agent architectures, LLM applications, and emerging tools.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and performant GenAI solutions.

What we're looking for:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years leading complex AI/ML or GenAI-driven applications.
• Demonstrate experience building full-stack applications and RESTful APIs using cloud-native technologies (AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Possess expertise in LLM integration and agentic system design using libraries like LangChain, Haystack, or custom-built frameworks.
• Have understanding of NLP, embeddings, vector databases, and data retrieval.
• Contribute in designing scalable systems for inference, prompt routing, and real-time interactions with large models.
• Exhibit experience with prompt engineering, prompt chaining, and evaluation of model performance in production.
• Bring experience with frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js) and data visualization for intelligent UX design.
• Contribute in building micro services with Java, JavaEE technologies and frameworks such as Spring Boot.

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum: $98,900.00

Maximum: $228,700.00

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
