The Senior Sourcing Engineer is responsible for identifying cost reduction opportunities and represents Sourcing for New Product Development (NPD) projects. This will be achieved by working collaboratively with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams including Sourcing, Process Engineering, Development, Quality, Regulatory, and Finance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Support Sourcing team members in reviewing NPD & Legacy parts to identify cost drivers. Identify cost and quality improvement opportunities involving technical issues (e.g., engineering design /specification changes; manufacturing capability). Thorough understanding of Design For Manufacturing.
Work with outside suppliers to understand cost drivers based on their manufacturing processes and capabilities. Solicit cost reduction ideas from supplier. Work with Senior Sourcing Engineers to implement supplier cost reduction ideas. Review supplier quotes on Engineering requested design/process changes Participate in core team meetings as the Sourcing team member for NPD projects. Participate in design reviews and risk analysis, order and track prototypes, deliver launch parts to meet or exceed project timeline.
Follows competitive bidding procedures when necessary to ensure the lowest total cost for specific materials, interacting with other departments as necessary. May participate, along with Sourcing management, in internal meetings in the development of strategy and negotiations as a member of a Sourcing team. Establishes standard costs
Expected Areas of Competence (i.e. KSAs) • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially sheet metal fabrication, machining and special processes. • Ability to analyze and evaluate quotations submitted by potential suppliers to assure that the quality, quantity, delivery terms, and costs are acceptable. • Ability to prepare concise spreadsheets and present financial information in graphical form to support procurement decision making; prepare sourcing plans and communicate technical purchasing concepts to key customers. Hands-on manufacturing or quality engineering experience • Familiarity with ISO quality requirements (ISO 9000 and/or 13485) • Strong mechanical aptitude • Value engineering / should-cost analysis experience • Strong cross-functional teaming and collaboration skills • Lean Six Sigma knowledge or certification
Education/ Experience Requirements B.S. in mechanical, industrial engineering or other engineering science. 5+ years experience in a related field.
