The Project Engineer plays a crucial role: responsible for one or more purchased subsystems within complex automation projects. The role combines technical content, coordination, and supplier management, with a clear focus on system integration and quality.

Your Challenge and Role in This

The Project Engineer manages a subsystem from design through installation and delivery. The PE owns the functional design and oversees all interfaces with other disciplines and systems. Suppliers handle detail and execution design; the PE directs, monitors, and integrates their work.

Core of the Role

The Project Engineer is responsible for one or more purchased subsystems within complex automation projects. The role combines technical content, coordination, and supplier management, with a clear focus on system integration and quality.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

• Drafting functional designs (SSDD, HRS/SRS) and later HDD, SDD, and IDD for the own subsystem.

Suppliers Management

• Technical responsibility for procurement, drafting technical procurement documentation (RFQ), evaluating offers, and monitoring progress (expediting).

Coordination & Integration

• Alignment with internal teams (installation, IBS, project management) and external suppliers; monitoring system integration.

Testing & Delivery

• Drafting test plans (STP), organizing and executing FAT/SAT, and ensuring correct delivery and documentation.

Project Management

• The own subsystem is managed as a mini-project in terms of scope, budget, planning, quality, risks, and stakeholders.

You are someone who brings structure, connects, and provides direction. You move easily between operations, management, and executive levels and know how to unify different disciplines into one clear course. You are decisive, analytical, and communicatively strong.

Additionally, You Possess:

• A completed higher professional education (HBO) or university degree, preferably technical or similar

• Experience in a technical project environment

• Demonstrable experience with supplier management and system integration

• Ability to oversee multidisciplinary interfaces

• Strong communication skills

• Ownership and a structured way of working
