Foster Care Support Service Worker/Advocate

Foster Care Service Support Work (STARS Support Worker) plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of children in foster care. The STARS Support Worker is the lead in the treatment team.

They will initiate the development of the treatment plans based upon the strengths and needs identified in the family IFSP and CANS.

Provide support and consultation of the STARS resource parents, to the families of children in care and to other team members related to their role in the treatment plan.

Coordinates and links for children and their families with needed services available within the agency or greater community in collaboration with the assigned Advocate.

Advocate position is a dependable, committed, and able to serve as a positive role model for the youth in the community, school, and home setting. The primary responsibility of the Advocate is to initiate, organize, plan, develop, and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participants and families.

Pay Rate:

$25.00 per hour - Foster Care Support Worker

$19.00 per hour - Advocate

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a social services field with additional understanding of rehabilitative mental health treatment services and case file documentation.
  • One to two years of related experience with working with children, adolescents, and families providing direct professional interventions.
  • Ability to leverage experience in foster care, collaboration with treatment teams, and working with children, adolescents, and families to effectively address their needs, while maintaining communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient basic computer skills is required; experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems is a plus.
  • Requires reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance coverage.
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) is a plus
