Through practical field experience and mentoring, successful candidates will gain significant professional confidence and people skills. Work with the Engineering staff to complete tasks spanning all aspects of a commercial operating nuclear generating plant. Tasks may include: revising calculations, developing and/or enhancing programs (lay out), research hydraulic and fluid flow calculations, implementing new programs, design, and database development/maintenance. We are looking for three interns in each location: Minneapolis, Monticello, and Welch, MN.

This position is for a June 1, 2026 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel Energy's business needs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Revising calculations
• Developing and/or enhancing programs (lay out)
• Research
• Hydraulic and fluid flow calculations
• Implementing new programs
• Design
• Database development/maintenance

Minimum Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program, or be enrolled in a technical mathematics or science program
• Must be a current freshman or higher
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work well with others Must be interested in a hands-on work approach
• Must have a valid driver's license and personal vehicle
