Project Description

Project activities and responsibilities could include assistance project management, pipeline engineering, data cleanup, federal code verification, documentation preparation, and other activities as required.

  • Work with the Engineering staff to support the Transmission Control Center.
  • Work as an entry level engineering analyst doing tasks that support the tools, programs, and databases used to perform various operational tasks such as outage coordination, power flow studies, power system monitoring, and assist with operator training. Through practical operations experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.

This position is for an immediate start. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel's business needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current student, Junior status (as of Fall 2025) or higher.
  • Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Able to commute to the service center in Denver, CO – hybrid schedule.
  • Able to work part time during the fall (up to 20 hours a week)/ full time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $22.50 to $30.10 per hour. This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays.
