Wafer Level Test Engineer

Xanadu's mission is to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere. At Xanadu, we are learners, innovators, researchers, collaborators and problem solvers. We are creating something that has never been built before. Few people in their life will be able to be a part of something like this, where if we are successful, the technologies we develop will solve some of the world's most challenging problems, and literally change the world. And that is something to be excited about!

Your role and responsibilities:

As a wafer level test engineer, you will:

  • Take responsibility and ownership of the operation, performance, and maintenance of Xanadu's high-volume testing setups, ensuring these are at high utilization with support from testing operators.
  • Make test plans, manage equipment allocation and train operators.
  • Ensure all test results are securely captured, properly stored, and traceable back to specific wafers, die locations, test scripts, measurement setups and equipment configurations.
  • Identify and propose improvements to testing workflows and qualification procedures to enhance efficiency, repeatability and reproducibility.
  • Serve as the point of contact for tool failures that exceed operator capabilities (e.g., diagnosing software bugs in the test scripts or troubleshoot hardware related issues).
  • Maintain strong cross-functional communications with measurement requesters to ensure clear alignment on test priorities and delivery timeline for results.
  • Engage in test equipment development activities, alongside our instrumentation experts.

Basic qualifications and experience:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or closely related field
  • 1+ years of experience working with sweep laser systems and general lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, SMUs, power supplies, OPMs, etc.
  • 1+ years of experience programming semiconductor and optical test equipment.
  • 1+ years of experience coding APIs/Interfaces for instruments using SCPI, IVI, or other methods (preferably in python)
  • 1+ years of experience testing active photonics devices such as photodiodes, modulators and lasers.
  • 1+ years of experience working in an HVM environment.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science.
  • 3+ years of experience testing integrated photonic solutions.
  • 3+ years of relevant hands-on experience in HVM testing photodiodes, modulators, ring resonators and other photonic devices.
  • Experience working with commercial test solutions from vendors such as FormFactor, Ficontec, MPI, Electroglas, TEL and others.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and process control for testing.
  • Understanding of MSA and Gauge R&R.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, quality control, and methods such as RCA and FMEA.
