Prevention Services Clinical Supervisor

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt DEPARTMENT: Youth Alternatives SUPERVISOR: Director of Youth Alternatives SALARY: $64,016 to $89,622 Annually

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION To provide services to the courts and family counseling for families and youth; to coordinate services with the courts, schools, and other community agencies; to oversee and participate in all work activities; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. To provide clinical supervision of lower-level staff in accordance with licensing requirements for the State of Wyoming.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide clinical supervision to lower-level counseling staff in accordance with the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board.
  • Provide counseling services for families and youth. Provide emergency counseling and crisis resolution to potential clients.
  • Facilitate and coordinate services for referrals from the courts, community agencies, and families.
  • Match family and youth needs with appropriate services at Youth Alternatives or make knowledgeable referrals to other community agencies.
  • Assess family, youth and situation for safety and mandated reporter concerns. Take steps to ensure safety and report to the Department of Family Services any reportable concerns.
  • Assess appropriateness of mentor match. Assist in making the match. Supervise and support matches.
  • Maintain client records and ongoing treatment planning documentation.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports. Prepare analytical and statistical reports on services and activities.
  • Review incoming counseling referrals and assign such to lower-level counseling staff.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; serve on designated community agency committees and boards.
  • Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of Juvenile Justice and counseling.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Operations, services, and activities of a juvenile counseling program and as well as the Juvenile Justice System.
  • Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of counseling, crisis intervention and family systems theories.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Supervise, organize, and review the work of lower-level staff.
  • Select, supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
  • Interpret and explain City policies and procedures.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Required:

  • Shall have been licensed for independent practice for a minimum of two (2) years prior to becoming a clinical supervisor.
  • Four (4) years of post-graduate professional experience in their discipline.
  • Must be licensed by the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board and possess the qualifications necessary to provide clinical supervision to the counseling staff. Applicant must be able to pass a complete criminal background check which includes fingerprinting and child abuse registry.

Preferred:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • Master of Social Work from an accredited college or university.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain the physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
