Are you an innovative Application Engineer, who specializes in CO2 and industrial refrigeration systems and controls? If this describes you, Copeland has an amazing career opportunity for you! You will leverage your technical expertise, as well as collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Clients to design and develop tailored refrigeration systems. You will have responsibility for controls design, startup/commissioning support, and training to ensure seamless project execution. Understanding customer requirements and recommending the appropriate products and control sequences to meet specific application needs will be key to your success. You will promote the organization's entire range of Building and Refrigeration products to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring systems are efficient and reliable. You exhibit strong expertise in industrial refrigeration systems and controls design, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide innovative technical solutions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with a cross-discipline and multi-company team to develop and optimize designs for industrial refrigeration systems, including component selection, system layout, and sequence of operation with emphasis on CO2 equipment (ammonia Cascade systems, Sub-critical & trans-Critical, Booster/Parallel systems)
  • Work closely with software engineers to translate the CO2 refrigeration process into plain English to explain operational details, write control narratives, and develop supervise story sequence of operations.
  • Solid understanding of Scada systems and be able to communicate intelligently with integration engineers.
  • Ensure designs align with relevant codes and standards such as ASHRAE, IIAR, NEC.
  • Provide onsite and remote startup support for the commissioning, troubleshooting, and tuning of controls/refrigeration system to ensure operational success.
  • Serve as a technical liaison to clients, providing clear and accurate information about system performance and capabilities.
  • Provide technical support to sales teams during the proposal phase by preparing system designs overviews, cost and time estimates, and technical documentation.
  • Actively collaborates with Engineering, Operations, Product Management, and Sales teams throughout the selling process to ensure the identified opportunities are delivered as proposed.
  • Drive Innovation by staying up to date on emerging technologies, industry trends, competitive product lines, and best practices in industrial refrigeration.
  • Assist in the creation of informative content and conduct training of internal staff, manufacturers, and customers to increase their competencies.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in any relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, or HVAC industries.
  • Experience with CO2, ammonia, and other natural refrigerants.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycle principles, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Knowledge in system diagrams (P&ID) and use of design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Ability to travel 10% to 50% depending on project demands, all travel expenses are company paid.
  • Authorization to work in the United States now and in the future- Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • IIAR certifications or equivalent training in industrial refrigeration.

Schedule:

The facility works 24 hours a day and typically 5 days a week. Our core office hours range anywhere between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and are flexible given we work together to best support business demands as well as the needs of our customers around the world.
