Job Title

Charter/Bus Driver

Job Purpose

Operate both short and long-haul University sponsored charter bus trips. Drive transit shuttles on fixed routes. The regular working hours for this position are 5:30am-2:30pm Monday - Friday, other hours may vary depending upon Charter requirements. Pre-employment drug screening and review of motor vehicle record history are required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive equipment as scheduled.
  • Follow all University and Transportation Services Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform long haul transit services as directed, according to applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform routine safety checks; provide minor maintenance, cleanup, and proper care of equipment.
  • Comply with safety rules and regulations concerning traffic, weather conditions and general passenger care.
  • Assist in loading and unloading passengers.
  • Maintain daily log.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Work-related experience

Required education, licensure, certification, registration, or other requirement:

  • Valid driver's license with no moving violations, and CDL class A or B with P endorsement are required.
  • Must be able to pass all drug and/or alcohol screening(s) required by the UW Drug and Alcohol Policy.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a professional team environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures and protocols as directed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to problem solve and work with minimal supervision while upholding department policies and procedures.

Desired Qualifications

  • One year Motorcoach driving experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations pertaining to bus transportation.
  • Knowledge of University of Wyoming Policies and Procedures.
  • First Aid/CPR Training Certification
  • TSI Certification.
  • Defensive Driving certification.
  • Completion of University of Wyoming Drug and Alcohol training.

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work on campus.
