Career Services Coordinator

Western Welding Academy is on a mission to build a better generation of blue-collar craftsmen. We are forging the next generation of skilled welders through an unwavering commitment to work ethic, accountability, and integrity. By focusing on student outcomes, we provide industry-leading education and hands-on training in a real-world environment, preparing our students to meet and exceed the demands of the welding industry. Join us in building a better generation.

We're hiring a Career Services Coordinator to serve as the primary point of contact for students from orientation through graduation and job placement. This role blends career coaching, employer relationship-building, student accountability, and data-driven improvement. If you're someone who can coach with heart, communicate with clarity, and hold high standards in a way that earns trust---this could be your seat at the table.

About the Role

Career Services is a pivotal role at WWA. You'll guide students through career readiness and job placement while also supporting student success and compliance. You'll develop strong employer partnerships, proactively source job opportunities, and use student outcomes data to strengthen the program over time. This is a high-touch, high-impact position for someone who enjoys building relationships, moving quickly, and helping students take meaningful steps toward stable, well-paying careers in the trades.

What You'll Do

Be the Student's Go-To Resource

Serve as the primary point of contact for students for career planning, campus adjustment, and support needs. Build strong relationships starting at orientation and maintain consistent engagement through graduation and placement. Advocate for students by connecting them to local and external resources (housing, financial support, transportation, wellness, etc.)

Deliver Career Coaching That Leads to Jobs

Provide 1:1 career advising including resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, and job search strategies. Educate students on employer expectations, work readiness, and professional communication. Prepare students for placement with structured career planning before graduation.

Build and Maintain Employer Partnerships

Develop relationships with employers, contractors, and industry partners to expand job opportunities. Proactively source, track, and match students to roles aligned with their goals and readiness. Strengthen WWA's placement pipeline by maintaining ongoing communication with hiring partners.

Manage Contractor Relationships

Maintain relationships with external providers (testing centers, education partners, community resources). Ensure service quality and alignment with WWA standards. Support contract and agreement coordination as needed.

Track Outcomes and Improve the Program

Collect, maintain, and report on outcomes data: graduation, placement, satisfaction, and related metrics. Maintain accurate documentation of student interactions and placements. Identify trends, recommend improvements, and support reporting that helps WWA grow stronger.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

Students feel supported, guided, and accountable---and they know what steps to take next. Employers trust WWA as a reliable talent pipeline and return for repeat hires. Placement processes are consistent, documented, and outcomes are clearly tracked. You can coach, but you can also enforce expectations.

Qualifications Required:

2+ years of experience in career services, student support, workforce development, recruiting, coaching, or a related field (or equivalent transferable experience). Strong working knowledge of job search strategies, resume/cover letter development, and interview coaching. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills. High discretion and professionalism handling sensitive student information. Strong organization, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort navigating student information systems/tools.

Preferred:

Experience in the skilled trades, welding, construction, or workforce environments. Familiarity with CRM systems and placement tracking tools. Knowledge of regional/national labor markets and employer expectations in trades. Experience supporting accountability frameworks (attendance, conduct, compliance).
