Study new and developing trends in transport, to align with WSP company values and strategic goals, sharing new learnings with our team, the wider business and our clients.

Contribute to the success of our business in meeting its business and strategic objectives by providing appropriate technical advice and ensuring effective management of clients, staff and projects.

Work collaboratively with the wider Transport teams nationally and internationally to break down barriers and deliver strategic projects. This role will provide support to Transport Planning projects around the country.

  • Engage and train in broader transportation skills involving various transportation assessments, investigations, strategy studies, feasibility studies, traffic/transportation modelling interpretation, evaluation, scheme assessments and other tasks relating to all transportation modes.
  • Support others to understand client needs in context of tasks/projects.
  • Proactively engage with clients to offer guidance and advice.
  • Contribute significantly to securing small projects and extensions to existing projects.
  • Proactive in identifying possible extensions to projects and/or follow on work with clients.
  • Develop a network of cross discipline/function contacts and identifies possible cross selling opportunities.
  • Apply pursuit win strategies
  • Understand client expectations and the factors that influence client satisfaction.
  • Develop solutions that address client issues, challenges, and needs in collaboration with project or team leaders.
  • Engage in business development activities, including meetings and events with clients, under the leadership of company client relationship managers.
  • Liaise with and meet staff from similar WSP transportation teams across New Zealand and across the WSP company globally with a view to supporting them on project work and business development where applicable.
  • Manage assigned projects to ensure that all deliverables meet, or exceed, clients' explicit and implicit needs and expectations.
  • Lead and contribute to project teams to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality. Contribute to ensuring projects achieve the planned profit.
  • Undertake planning of and correctly scope out projects, have appropriate inputs and outputs and verification activities.
  • Undertake administrative tasks associated with assigned projects including reporting on job progress and budget.
  • Actively seek feedback from your project teams, reflecting on the performance of the team and apply this knowledge to future projects. Regularly share this knowledge with your WSP colleagues.
  • Ensure that all work undertaken by you is in accordance with appropriate professional and technical standards and practices together with effective Quality Assurance.

About you:

  • Min. 5 years' professional experience within the field of transportation infrastructure
  • Experience with transportation assessments, investigations, strategy studies, feasibility studies, traffic/transportation modelling interpretation, evaluation, scheme assessments
  • Chartered Professional membership EngNZ or working towards
  • Extensive experience in writing quality and credible complex reports and documents.
  • Proven experience in market winning work and delivering projects.
