You'll contribute to projects that enhance institutional, commercial, and infrastructure facilities, helping clients reduce energy use, improve comfort, and modernize essential systems. This role is ideal for engineers early in their career who are ready to take ownership of defined scopes while continuing to grow their technical judgment in a collaborative environment.

Your Impact

Perform site surveys and assessments to support mechanical design development.

  • Prepare mechanical design briefs and complete load calculations, ventilation sizing, and equipment selection for HVAC and energy systems.
  • Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation aligned with WSP standards and applicable codes.
  • Support coordinated project delivery by collaborating closely with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activities to ensure design intent is met.
  • Produce mechanical drawings and specifications in accordance with building codes and industry standards.
  • Contribute to central plant and district energy system design, including system layouts, load coordination, and documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings and design team discussions to support project alignment and decision-making.
  • Assist with proposal efforts, including fee letter support and RFP responses.
  • Apply codes, standards, and best practices daily to ensure safe, efficient, and constructible designs.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering backed by 3–7 years of hands-on mechanical/HVAC design experience in consulting environments.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and engineering calculation tools.
  • Progressing toward P.Eng. licensure with a strong desire for continued professional growth.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, and ASHRAE guidelines.
  • Experience producing coordinated design packages and managing defined scopes independently.
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to solve problems alongside multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Comfort interacting directly with clients and supporting discussions with clear technical insight.
  • Prior experience in educational, recreational, cultural, or sports facility design is an asset.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 – $102,500

MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
