Engineering Designer

The successful candidate's role will be as an engineering designer within the GCC Development team, producing detailed highway and drainage engineering designs and construction drawings.

Responsibilities

The desirable candidate should have experience in highway design with major thrust in alignment elements, modeling with Civil 3D as a major tool. The candidate should lead the project by providing assistance to junior engineers and coordination with the team/client directly. The candidate should be open for taking challenges and meet the expected criteria of WSP standards.

Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum 2-4 years working experience in design of Highways/Motorways/Drainage system for Highways. Good written and spoken communication skills and be fluent in English. Be aware of current and emerging technical guidance for highways and drainage. An ability to provide hands on mentoring and training of staff to ensure quality of output and continuous technical improvement. To produce designs based on planning strategies and construction specifications for drainage and highways. Must have a significant knowledge of engineering design, design software, technical consents process, adoption and contract procedures for the provision of highways, drainage, and utilities for new developments and regeneration projects. Ability to manage numerous assignments at one time. Proficiency in Micro-Station, In Roads, Open Roads, and/or Geopak/similar design software. Experience in AutoCAD/AutoDesk and their suite of packages. Applied knowledge and understanding of AASHTO, MUTCD, and TxDOT Standards/Specifications/Guidelines. Experience/knowledge of various construction techniques in highways construction projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
