Crafts Technician

This position is located on the North Slope Pikka location (Santos Support Program) and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay. Job Purpose: Working under the direct supervision of the Santos Completions and Well Testing site supervisor, the Wells Lead Technician performs day to day maintenance and testing on equipment and facilities for the Santos Pikka site development project. The Lead technician will provide daily work direction to the assigned roustabout crew at site. The Lead tech will be directly responsible for effectively communicating and taking work direction for technical and basic well work, including but not limited to greasing frac trees, replacing valves and servicing well heads.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Attend various technical, developmental and safety training.
  • Demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate support for the company's HSE management system.
  • Perform manual labor including clean up, containment construction and stick picking.
  • Perform heavy labor such as layout of hardline pipe and hauling/stacking materials on trailers or skids.
  • Ability to operate Wells service equipment: Loaders, Rig Trucks, Forklifts, Man-lifts, Boom Trucks, Lowboys
  • Perform hydro-testing on hard line or wellheads.
  • Set up Wells Support jobs including Coil jobs, E-Line jobs, Full bore Jobs, Tree replacements, Well Disconnect and Reconnect with various flow-back components and pressure equipment.
  • Perform rigging load calculations and proper rigging for lifting operations.
  • Safely climb ladders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to identify flanges.
  • Knowledge of hardline components and uses.
  • Knowledge of hydro testing.
  • Knowledge of rigging procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with wellhead components, bolt-up procedures, flanges, threaded pipe and fittings, and proper safe use of tools.
  • Must be a self-starter; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and follow work directions.
  • Able to effectively communicate with fellow workers and alternate.
  • Capable of learning various Worley and client safety and operational procedures and demonstrating required competencies.
  • Sound knowledge of operations and safety policies and procedures.

Physical Demand/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:
  • Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather
  • Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
  • Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.
  • Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.
  • Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.
  • Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.
  • Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.
  • Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

In-Vehicle Monitoring System: As part of our commitment to safety and accountability, company vehicles are equipped with in-cab cameras and vehicle monitoring systems. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Class D driver's license and ability to be insured by Worley auto insurer.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year experience with flange identification, triplex pump, bolt-up, or basic rigging procedures.
  • One (1) year experience working in a Wells Intervention environment.
  • Experience or previous employment with Worley.
