People Advisor
Worley Canada Construction is seeking a full-time People Advisor to work with our People Team on an 18-month temporary contract at our office in Edmonton, AB.
Responsibilities:
This position will act as a business partner, advisor and coach and will work within the overall People structure to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of people services. Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Provide day-to-day HR advisory support to managers and employees on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
- Ensure key HR practices are aligned with employment standards and provide integrated solutions to the organization that mitigates risk.
- Manage employee lifecycle activities including promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Lead and complete workplace investigations into employee complaints, policy violations or Ethics reports. Prepare detailed investigation reports, provide recommendations for resolution and support leaders in implementing actions.
- Ensure successful local implementation and application of People/HR policies and programs. Includes development and implementation of work practices and guidelines that are aligned to global People policies and work processes.
- Provide performance management guidance and consultation by facilitating performance management training, coaching on performance management discussions, developing action plans, and by providing assistance in setting expectations.
- Facilitate annual salary review process management including providing consultation on salary recommendations.
- Assist in development of position descriptions/advertisements and prepare letters of contract and other recruitment related documentation.
- Review incoming resumes, conduct phone screens and interviews along with hiring manager to determine suitability of candidates.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years direct Human Resources experience, specifically including employee relations and investigations.
- Certificate, diploma or degree in Human Resources is preferred.
- Knowledge of Employment Standards, Human Rights Legislation and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, mediation and communication skills required. Ability to work well under pressure, deal with difficult people and de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
- Industrial construction specific experience is an asset. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients at all levels of the organization and influence decisions.
- Ability to establish credibility quickly and be decisive utilizing well-developed critical thinking/analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Collaborative team player with demonstrated professional and emotional maturity and judgment to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
- Self-starter and able to work both in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
- Results oriented with solid time management/organization skills.
- Flexible, adaptable, learns quickly demonstrates courage and self-awareness.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc).
