And when we began to rise, one thing that really set us apart was our culture. A culture that was driven by our value of putting our people first. And ever since, the happiness, development, and contribution of every Workmate is central to who we are. Our Workmates believe a healthy employee-centric, collaborative culture is the essential mix of ingredients for success in business. That's why we look after our people, communities, and the planet while still being profitable. Feel encouraged to shine, however that manifests: you don't need to hide who you are. You can feel the energy and the passion, it's what makes us unique. Inspired to make a brighter work day for all and transform with us to the next stage of our growth journey? Bring your brightest version of you and have a brighter work day here.

Our Document Engineering team is central to enabling critical business operations across Workday, empowering users to seamlessly generate, distribute, and secure essential documents every day. We own the foundational platforms that power everything from offer letters and compensation statements to HR records and payroll documents, ensuring that vital information flows efficiently and reliably. Our mission is to ensure that our customers have reliable, compliant document solutions, while enabling the team to focus on innovative, future-looking features that drive Workday's strategic vision forward.

We are seeking a highly engaged, technically astute, and collaborative Product Manager to join our team. As a Product Manager for Document Engineering, you will become an expert in the document generation space of Workday, capable of handling multiple product initiatives and driving organizational objectives forward. You will be a key player in shaping the future of enterprise document products, balancing immediate customer needs with long-term strategic evolution. This role demands a deep understanding of product functionality, working closely with engineering to diagnose challenging issues, advocating for informed product opinions, and driving towards a unified, resilient document generation experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Support Triage & Reduction: Act as the first responder and initial triage point for high-priority customer issues. You will assess severity and priority, provide initial solutions or workarounds, and gather vital details. Drive initiatives to build self-service tooling and enhance product observability to significantly reduce the engineering team's support load and improve customer troubleshooting capabilities. This includes monitoring support channels, creating issue tickets, and prioritizing urgent requests while deferring non-critical ones.
  • Strategic Integration Modernization: Own and drive the re-architecture of critical external integrations. Focus on improving resiliency and performance as well as ensuring regulatory compliance, including FedRAMP. This involves defining detailed requirements, leading technical deep dives on architecture, and exploring strategic options for partner ecosystem enablement.
  • Technical Product Ownership: Lead technical discussions with architects and engineering managers. Partner extremely closely with engineering to deeply understand system integrations and technical challenges to advocate for well-informed product solutions and provide inputs into technical design.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analysis to drive decision making. Be self-reliant in obtaining data points from various sources to understand product adoption, usage, and troubleshoot issues. Make informed and decisive product decisions to drive progress effectively.
  • Product Evolution & Deprecation: Drive strategic product decisions related to important feature functionality in existing document products, with a clear roadmap for translating critical features to next-generation solutions and ultimately deprecating older technologies.
  • Partner & Vendor Management: Liaison with high-priority external partners to address support issues, gather input, and build trusting relationships, especially in the context of partner ecosystem enablement and new solution paths. Engage with internal application teams to advise on prioritization decisions and roadmaps.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
