Job Description: Seasonal Shop Sales Associate (Part-Time/Temporary) HMA Museum Shop: Shop Sales Associate Department: Retail Operations Reports To: Retail Sales Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt Employment Status: (Part-Time/Temporary)

The Seasonal Shop Sales Associate performs daily front-of-house functions necessary to achieve the holiday sales goals of the Retail Operations Department at the High Museum. Holiday and weekend availability is mandatory for this role. Availability from September to January. Assigned shifts can include opening and closing events, nights, weekends, extended hours, special events, and holiday season. 16 – 24 hrs. per week

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to daily sales goals through excellent customer service, salesmanship, merchandising, and knowledge of shop products and services.
  • Assist in the merchandising, restocking, and organizing of sales floor and storage areas.
  • Engage and assist guests with purchases from walk-in to check-out with a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
  • Perform daily opening and closing functions including daily cleaning and change requests.
  • Execute accurate sales transactions using Shopify POS System.
  • Engage in the cultivation of turning Not Yet Members into Members.
  • Consistently solicit Round-Up donations after each purchase.
  • Assist with annual shop inventory.
  • Adhere to department policies and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge about museum permanent collection, exhibitions, and public programs.

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or College Degree. High School Diploma and at least one year of retail experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some knowledge of art history is desired. Must possess good math skills with the basic ability to compute rates and percentages and balance cash register. Good reading, written and verbal language skills. Bilingual helpful.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand during 4 – 8 hr. shifts.
  • This position also requires occasional lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
