The Role

This is a permanent role working Friday to Monday, 11:00pm to 7.30am (32 hours per week). We support up to six guests in our double-staffed respite service, providing a safe and supportive space for people who need some time out during a period of personal crisis. Our team engages with guests, offering practical support, connection, and advocacy throughout their stay. Availability to work awake overnight shifts is essential for this position.

Working in respite some of your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting tāngata whai ora regain their mental health and independence.
  • Providing safe medication support
  • Housekeeping to a high standard
  • Comprehensive note taking and handovers
  • Cooking nutritious inviting meals
  • Advocating for and empowering the people we support

You

We're seeking people with a caring nature who use recovery- and trauma-informed approaches to actively support tāngata whai ora in achieving and maintaining their wellbeing. Availability to work awake overnight shifts is essential for this position.

  • Applicants must hold the Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent, or be currently working towards it.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • You must hold a current full driver's licence
  • You must a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
