Systems Engineer

Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team. As a Systems Engineer, you will be part of the technical support team, providing essential services in VoIP telecommunications and mobile device management. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, which will align successfully with the organization. Location: Madison, WI (Hybrid-Remote (90%) / Onsite (10%) as needed). Duration 12+ months (highly possible to extend).

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level technical support for VoIP telecom systems, mobile device management, and dial plans.
  • Analyze and design call trees and call centers for internal communications.
  • Manage telecommunications data, improve processes through automation or redundancy.
  • Configure, test, validate, administer, monitor, and maintain telecom infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Support telecom billing and tracking systems.
  • Work with routing protocols in WAN/LAN environments.
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve hardware/software issues.
  • Participate in project planning, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide on-call support, including occasional weekend VOIP reboots.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years: Telecom provider services support & vendor management (e.g., AT&T, US Cellular, Lumen)
  • 5+ years: PBX provisioning
  • 8+ years: Telecom asset management & billing reconciliation
  • 8+ years: Call center software & VoIP number management
  • VoIP communications: Configuration, testing, validation, support
  • Mobile technology: Device management and telecom billing
  • Routing protocols: VoIP over WAN/LAN
  • Customer service, oral and written communication (8+ years)
  • LAN/WAN, VoIP networks, wireless (cellular/data/mobile)

  • Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Suite:
  • Cisco Manager
  • Cisco Unity Connection
  • Cisco Unified Contact Center Express
  • Call tracing software (8 years)
  • Telecom infrastructure/service inventories (5 years)
  • Telecom billing systems & rate reconciliation (8 years)
  • Template/instruction development (5 years)
