Research Engineer
Convergent Science is seeking research engineers for its development team in Madison, Wisconsin. Research engineers develop the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software used by multiple U.S. industries and national laboratories to create 3-D simulations of complex fluid flows. They research, implement, optimize, and validate new features related to CFD modeling and simulation to expand the functionality and improve the software\'s accuracy and efficiency. Specific job duties include:
- Develop CFD engineering software using C++, C, Fortran and MPI.
- Write solver code for large-scale turbulent reacting flows simulations, including fluid-structure interaction, and other new applications.
- Implement and validate multi-phase, multi-physics, and turbulent combustion flow models.
- Develop and implement new boundary conditions.
- Explore new numerical methods to improve CFD simulations.
- Implement new tools and algorithms to enhance parallel computing capabilities of core CFD solver.
- Fix bugs in the code to improve overall functionality of the solver.
- Prepare articles for publication in professional journals and presentation at conferences.
Other experience and qualifications:
- Minimum requirements: Master\'s degree in computational engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, ocean engineering, or related engineering field with significant coursework in CFD.
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of CFD modeling, demonstrated knowledge of programming in languages such as Fortran, C/C++ or Matlab, and demonstrated technical communication skills.
