Child Support Enforcement Program

Performs intermediate technical work establishing child support orders, providing on-going case management of child support enforcement program cases, scheduling court hearings for cases, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Examples of duties:

  • Answers phones, directs inquiries to the appropriate staff person, responds to inquiries, and performs general office duties.
  • Initiates paternity actions and establishes child support orders.
  • Provides on-going case management of child support enforcement program cases operated under title IV-D of the federal social security act.
  • Interviews custodial and non-custodial parents to gather facts for support payments and paternity establishment; reviews and complies data for appropriate legal action recommendations.
  • Works cooperatively with the courts, law enforcement agencies, federal communications commission (fcc), u.s. department of health and human services (hhs), and other agencies associated with child support and paternity.
  • Attends hearings; negotiates stipulations and provides testimony in court as needed.
  • Schedules court hearings for cases, prepares pleadings, and files with coc after agency attorney review and approval.
  • Utilizes the kids information data system to maintain accurate case information; creates legal documents, and documents case activities.
  • Performs genetic testing in paternity cases.
  • Handles federal taxpayer information (fti) documents in accordance with agency, state, and internal revenue service (irs) rules and regulations.

Other experience and qualifications:

High school diploma or GED with some additional specialized child support training, or related field, and moderate experience in financial counseling, independent research, investigation, paralegal work, financial collections, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver\'s license in the state of wisconsin. Must be able to pass the federal bureau of investigation fingerprint-based criminal background check and the wisconsin department of justice criminal history record background check. Internal revenue service\'s safeguarding federal tax information, program security, and confidentiality training upon hire. Obtain training in the bureau of child support and the wisconsin department of children and families within 1 year of hire.
