Manufacturing Engineer

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing programs to perform complex machining operations that meet precise tolerance and finish requirements. This hands-on role focuses on improving existing processes and implementing new fixturing and tooling concepts.

Responsibilities:

  • Program CNC machines, including vertical/horizontal lathes and mills.
  • Estimate potential machining projects from prints and specifications.
  • Create fixture designs and tooling lists for upcoming projects.
  • Mount and secure tooling and holding fixtures, set stops, and calibrate fixtures to appropriate reference points. Understand the use of Renishaw probing.
  • Manually cycle through operation sequences to check fixtures, work position, tooling, clearance, and speed/feeds through the first piece approval process.
  • Develop and maintain set-up checklists and instructions for operators.
  • Diagnose operating challenges and improve cycle time for current programs.
  • Make periodic operation checks to assure proper machining operations and recommend process improvements as needed.
  • Adjust machines to correct deviations and ensure specifications are met.
  • Study operations and equipment used in the production process and recommend new methods or equipment to increase efficiency.
  • Read and understand drawings and dimensional reports from CMM.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in SolidWorks
  • 3+ years of experience in designing fixtures and molds
  • 3+ years of experience in CNC programming with Fanuc G-Code

Work Environment:

This role is based in a machine shop/foundry environment, which can get warm during the summer. It requires comfort with getting a little dirty, so wearing white is not advisable. The position involves continuous standing and intermittent walking, bending, sitting, and lifting parts that may exceed 50 pounds.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Racine, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $50.48/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
