Electrical Engineer III
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer III to join our Shovel team. This role is responsible for evaluating system-level designs, developing and supporting electrical systems for mining equipment, and ensuring all designs meet performance, safety, and cost objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering standards, hands-on CAD experience, and a collaborative mindset. This position is based in Milwaukee, WI and follows a hybrid work schedule, with four days onsite and one remote day per week.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate electrical systems including power distribution, circuit protection, control wiring, and cable/transformer sizing per NEC and other relevant standards.
- Use CAD tools (AutoCAD and SolidWorks) to create 3D components, routed assemblies, and detailed drawings in compliance with company standards.
- Enter and manage design data within the PDM software system (Adept).
- Check team-generated work and support configuration of machine-level BOMs.
- Perform and document calculations and analysis related to electrical systems.
- Complete tasks related to Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and documentation in SolidWorks Manage.
- Assist in resolving MRB, manufacturing, procurement, and field-related issues.
- Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, and engineering teams to deliver cost-effective and reliable solutions.
- Participate in risk assessments, safety reviews, and the development of design system improvements.
- Support sold order and R&D projects while adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Provide timely feedback on design results, technical issues, and quality concerns to maintain schedule and performance objectives.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE)
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical systems design
- Proficient in AutoCAD with over 3 years of experience
- Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, UL, and ISO standards
- Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and PDM software
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems
- Skilled in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills, high energy, and self-motivation
