Electrical Engineer Position

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join one of our largest Navy prime contractors. As a trusted provider of naval power and control technology, they deliver quality, customer-focused products and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and our allies. Their products meet stringent specifications and have been proven to perform in harsh marine environments. Under the support of the Electrical Engineering department, you will support the production of the new submarine model, specifically the laser weapon system.

What You Will Do:

• Lead design and development of power electronics systems for naval applications, including a 150HP drive for unmanned ships and energy storage systems.
• Support NPD legacy programs with updates, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Model and simulate power conversion systems using tools like MATLAB, ANSYS, Siwave, and Electronic Workbench.
• Design and test variable speed drives and circuit boards for medium to high voltage systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate controls theory into product development and ensure compliance with DoD standards.
• Evaluate and specify components and subsystems from suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and performance.
• Develop prototypes to validate design concepts and retire technical risks.

• Power electronics design (medium to high voltage, 450V+)
• Variable speed drives
• Circuit board experience
• MATLAB (ansys, SIwave, Simulink, LTspice are good alternatives)
• Altium (Eagle or cadence allegro are good alternatives)
