Intern Position

Position Summary: The Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of construction and design projects. Under the guidance of project managers and senior staff, the intern will assist with documentation, scheduling, tracking progress, and coordinating resources to help ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope. This role provides exposure to multiple phases of project management while developing professional skills in organization, communication, and problem-solving.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Performing duties related to project management including management of project related information and documentation, maintenance of project files.
  • Processing design, product, and construction documents to help meet deadlines and progress the project.
  • Working on tracking documents, product submittals, requirement verification reports and other project documents.
  • Tracking and documenting project schedule activity, start, finish, % complete and major milestones.
  • Coordinating material deliveries to the job site, following up on discrepancies, delays or variances.
  • Tracking and reporting of production quantities and equipment utilization.
  • Developing innovative processes and procedures to improve schedule of deliverables.
  • Performing other administrative related or project based duties as assigned or required by the project.
  • Supporting construction, quality control, testing, etc. in the progression of time sensitive deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a related field of study such as engineering, contract management or project management;
  • Encompasses general concepts of project management;
  • Ability to apply, interpret and understand contract law and language;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proper grammar and punctuation are mandatory;
  • Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills;
  • Strong attention to the details and ability to work under strict deadlines

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time office position.
  • Occasional weekend or night work may be required.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions may be required.
  • Majority of the field work is on and around live track (trains).
  • Field work may be in urban, rural or isolated areas. Accommodations and transportation will be provided, if required.
