Hardware Design Engineer

As a Hardware Design Engineer, you are a key member in Unibap's high-performance hardware team. We are seeking someone with deep expertise in advanced electronics design who can take on a leading role in the development of Unibap computers for space applications. Your primary focus will be on the design of complex digital systems, with special emphasis on high-speed interfaces and the robust power solutions required to drive them.

In this role, you are expected to not only deliver top-quality designs but also have a keen eye for the overall system. You will work at the intersection of electronics, mechanics, and software, contributing a system-level perspective to ensure that our products are optimized for the extreme conditions of space. Main Responsibilities

• Specialized Design and Development: Function as a technical expert and lead the design of complex circuit boards, from architecture to a verified product. This includes schematic registration and advanced PCB layout in Altium Designer, with a focus on high-speed and power design.
• System Perspective and Collaboration: Ensure the integrity of the overall design, including the interaction with mechanics (thermal design, enclosures, connectors) and software. Collaborate actively with mechanical designers to create optimized and robust integrated solutions.
• Testing and Verification: Lead and perform bring-up, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes in the lab. Serve as a technical resource during the testing of the company's products.
• Technical Contribution and Review: Actively participate in and lead technical discussions and design reviews to ensure high technical quality.
• Documentation: Be responsible for ensuring that accurate technical documentation is produced in accordance with the company's established templates and processes.

We Seek the Following Experience and Skills:

• Master of Science (M.Sc.) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in electrical engineering, technical physics, or a related field.
• Vigorous experience in advanced hardware development, from specification to a verified product.
• Deep expertise in digital high-speed design (DDR4/5, PCIe, Ethernet, etc.) and practical experience in signal integrity analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of power supply design for complex digital systems, including SMPS, LDO, and power integrity.
• Excellent skills in Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools.
• Experience in working with system design where electronics and mechanics intersect, with a good understanding of challenges in thermal management and encapsulation.

Meritorious Skills:

• Experience in designing for demanding environments (radiation, vacuum, extreme temperatures).
• Knowledge of space electronics standards (ECSS).
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design and techniques to reduce interference.

Other:

• Fluent in Swedish.
• Good knowledge of English.

The position is located internally at Unibap, but some of the assignments they perform for their clients may require placement in a security class. This means that in such cases, you will need to undergo a security screening with register check under the security protection act (2018:585). For some assignments, Swedish citizenship may also be a requirement from the client.
