Director Of Emergency Services

The Director Of Emergency Services Is Responsible For The Overall Leadership, Direction, And Daily Operations Of Winona Health's Emergency Services, Including The Emergency Department, Emergency Preparedness, And Other Areas As Assigned. This Position Ensures The Efficient Delivery Of High-Quality, Patient-Centered Care Through Effective Coordination With Ancillary Departments, Oversight Of Departmental Staffing, And Management Of Emergency Preparedness Initiatives.

The Director Provides Strategic And Operational Leadership For All Team Members Within The Emergency Services Service Line, Fostering Professional Growth And Caregiver Development. Utilizing Lean Management Principles, This Role Drives Continuous Improvement, Programmatic Development, And The Integration Of Evidence-Based Practices To Support Organizational Excellence.

This Position Requires A Dynamic Leader With Exceptional Change Management Abilities And A Strong Alignment With The Organization's Strategic Goals. The Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate Outstanding Coaching, Mentoring, And Facilitation Skills, Possess Superior Organizational And Interpersonal Communication Abilities, And Thrive In A Fast-Paced, Evolving Healthcare Environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates behaviors and decision-making consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Winona Health.
  • Leads all business and operational functions with integrity, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintains fiscal accountability for operational budgets within assigned areas, ensuring efficient and responsible use of resources.
  • Develops and implements effective strategies for staff development, recruitment, engagement, and retention to support a high-performing workforce.
  • Holds caregivers accountable for adherence to Winona Health policies, procedures, and performance standards; oversees performance management processes.
  • Monitors and evaluates key quality metrics and benchmarks within the Emergency Services service line, implementing improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Provides steady, effective leadership during periods of rapid change, conflict, and uncertainty, maintaining focus on organizational priorities and team cohesion.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the goals and objectives of Winona Health.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversees and manages direct reports across all functional areas within Emergency Services

Skills And Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Health-related field/Business/Leadership Development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • At least five (5) years of leadership experience overseeing business operations and directly leading people
  • At least five (5) years as a direct patient care clinician

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree
  • Leadership over multiple areas, service lines, or departments
