Job Description

The Clinical Services Manager for Inpatient Oncology, Palliative Care and Blood Collections is responsible for the managerial oversight of the Oncology/Palliative Care unit and Blood Collections at Brampton Civic Hospital, and palliative clinics at both our Brampton Civic and Etobicoke General Sites. This role includes, but is not limited to managing and overseeing daily operations, department communications, human resource management, operations workflow, orientation, training and staff development, and policy and procedure development and implementation. The activities of this individual must facilitate the integration of systematic change that positively impacts the provision of quality and customer service.

Accountabilities:

  • In consultation/collaboration with the Director, physician partners and team members will develop and implement the clinical service, functional and strategic plan for the programs
  • In consultation/collaboration with the Director defines the organizational supports and structures required for the programs
  • Enhances community linkages
  • Establish a professional practice climate and facilitates a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care in the departments
  • Coaches, mentors and develops team members. Motivate individuals to optimize performance to maximize scope of practice
  • Ensures that patient care is provided according to professional practice and standards
  • Monitors and responds in a timely manner to quality, safety, risk and other performance/outcome indicators
  • Influences and motivate staffs through transformational leadership and encourage effective relationships among the inter professional teams, and regional palliative partners and stakeholders
  • Work in partnerships with physicians and other providers across the system to address priorities of the program
  • Hires, orients and manages staff performance as determined by human resource policies, union contracts, legislation and standards of practice
  • Develops, monitors, controls and evaluates the budget in collaboration with administrative directors, physicians, health care professionals and staff in a team-oriented culture
  • Develops processes for selecting, evaluating and maintaining material/equipment needed for enhancing patient care
  • Develops and maintains effective interdepartmental relationships and participates in activities which contribute to the effective function of the unit/units, the program, and the corporation
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications

  • Health Discipline Professional designation
  • Undergraduate Degree, required, Master's, preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years recent management/supervisory experience, preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years recent clinical experience in oncology and/or palliative care, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships including effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and external regional partners
  • Demonstrated effective leadership, planning and project management skills
  • Excellent problem solving and change management skills
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to establish positive relationships
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Established reputation as a consultative, collaborative, coaching and mentoring style of leadership
  • Evidence of collaboration across disciplines/divisions/departments/programs
  • Ability to travel between hospital sites.
