Maintenance Technician
The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian organization saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity, for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.
To provide a full range of skillful site maintenance services including installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment/appliances to support safe, comfortable and reliable working environment. The candidate will provide technical guidance and support to 2 site maintenance staff and assist in coordinating daily tasks under the supervision of the Facility Management Associate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, coordinate and provide a full range of site maintenance and installation works.
- Coordinate portering and cleaning services.
- Support deployment of and provide technical supervision to external contractors.
- Install, maintain and repair all kinds of electrical equipment and appliances.
- Perform regular and ad hoc installations, repairs and maintenance of plumbing systems.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Compile and provide accurate reports on works undertaken.
- Contribute to evaluation of required installation/repair works.
Other post requirements include:
- Support the Facility Management Unit in coordinating routine and special maintenance.
- Provide technical and logistics assistance to training courses and events.
- Support coordination with the military and private security forces.
- Keep records of furniture and inventory numbers.
- Assist in preparing basic Scope of Works and support communication with service providers.
Essentials:
- Experience in civil works including preventive maintenance.
- Ability to perform works to complete/improve the work of external contractors.
- Provide technical guidance to external contractors.
- Strong knowledge of materials, activities and processes used to build and maintain civil works.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and possess good communication skills.
Desirable:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power-Point.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Possess at least one of the following certificates:
- Forklift operator certificate
- Certification for plant protection products
- Driving licenses (C-E-CQC-ADR)
- Aerial Platform Use Certification
Standard minimum qualifications and experience:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Experience: Four or more years of proven effective experience in site maintenance.
Language: Proficiency Level B in English language. Fluency in Italian is required. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
