Over more than a decade, Syria has faced a relentless crisis that has driven hunger and humanitarian needs to unprecedented heights. The convergence of ongoing insecurity, widespread displacement, economic deterioration, infrastructural damage, and inadequate basic services has severely heightened vulnerability among men, women, and children. According to the 2023 Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO), a staggering 12.9 million people, or 55% of the population, are food insecure, including 3.1 million facing severe food insecurity. Additionally, 2.6 million people are at imminent risk of becoming food insecure. In today's Syria, the minimum wage can only afford a fifth of a family's food needs.

To deliver a wide range of business support processes and activities for a specific professional area of work, to facilitate effective service delivery.

  • Collate security information for inclusion in reports, documents and correspondence, to support the effective work of other staff.
  • Respond to standard administrative queries and provide timely and accurate guidance related to the security and other units.
  • Process and manage routine administrative and financial tasks in various functional areas, to contribute to the effective and timely management of resources in coordination with other units.
  • Manage and maintain security records and databases, to ensure information is organised and readily available for staff.
  • Maintain relationships with a range of individuals to include HR, Finance, Admin, Logistics through provision of business support to assist in information sharing and service delivery to staff.
  • Proof-read reports, documentation, correspondence, etc., making changes in line with established guidelines where appropriate.
  • Coordinate meetings for the security, trainings and workshops related to the security unit.
  • Maintain and manage the security access cards to the WFP premises.
  • Perform any other related activity as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.

Minimum of four (4) years of experience comprised of at least (1) progressively responsible work experience in the relative business stream with experience in general administrative work, and (3) years in another function.

  • Knowledge of specialised common business practices and methods, gained through relevant technical training and experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a range of individuals in order to provide a high quality support service.
  • Ability to carry out basic data analysis and independently rectify problems requiring attention.
  • Ability to monitor and record financial transactions.
  • Good communication skills required to give and receive information and work with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Fluency (level C) in English language. Fluency (level C) in Arabic Language.
