This role involves using personal experience with mental illness or substance use recovery to support and guide consumers in their own recovery journeys. Responsibilities include helping clients build coping and communication skills, recognize warning signs, and prevent relapse. The position also promotes understanding of recovery principles among staff, models hope and self-advocacy, and encourages clients to develop natural supports, community connections, and meaningful roles in life. Additional duties include ensuring client safety, participating in activities, and maintaining compliance with policies and regulations. High school diploma or GED, successful completion of Peer Support Specialist Training, and a valid driver's license is required.
