Maintenance & Engineering Manager
Ergon - West Virginia, Inc. in Newell, WV currently has an opening for a Maintenance & Engineering Manager. The Maintenance & Engineering Manager will administer and coordinate the affairs of all disciplines of the department, including Mechanical Maintenance, Instrument/Electrical, Warehouse & Procurement, Reliability, Design & Drafting, and Project Engineering to achieve overall departmental and corporate goals. Maintenance & Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

- Identify safety / quality / environmental problems and define solutions using the Corrective and Preventive Action Program.
- Support the facility and individual departments in the development and implementation of the Operating Budgets (capital and expense) including the development of project proposals, budget estimates, and updates for annual and quarterly budget.
- Develop, implement, and maintain programs as needed to keep project costs to a minimum while maximizing safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Actively involve employees in the continual development, maintenance, and improvement of maintenance / engineering policies, procedures, design specifications, and business systems.
- Evaluate Maintenance/Engineering staffing requirements required to meet facility and departmental goals; make recommendations for staffing changes.
- Secure, coordinate and supervise contract consulting, engineering, design, and vendor services for supplemental design assistance as needed to accomplish goals of the facility.
- Strive to continually improve all aspects of the Maintenance / Engineering Department to create a better work environment for employees.
- Lead the Maintenance / Engineering Department in the scoping, planning, scheduling, and coordination of all project-related activities utilizing all applicable workgroups and resources for the efficient completion of projects.
- Conduct regular Maintenance / Engineering Department group meetings to discuss current and completed activities, share lessons learned, and determine upcoming project activity.
- Work with department employees to balance resources for construction related activities and take advantage of manpower efficiency.
- Lead the Maintenance / Engineering Department in all phases of project development, preparation, and implementation.
- Monitor progress of all project phases to verify accuracy of schedule and budget.
- Lead in the preparation of detailed project estimates and cost justifications and in the development of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE’s) and other documentation as necessary for management approval of project related activities.
- Organize, prepare, and conduct project review and update meetings with key personnel to further develop and review project.
- Ensure the documentation of all phases of project design, construction, and installation to verify compliance with Ergon specifications and standards, all applicable design and construction codes, industry recommended practices.
- Initiate, participate in, and ensure the completion of Management of Change (MOC) procedure including Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for project related activities.
- Participate in all aspects of miscellaneous projects as necessary to meet the needs of the facility.
- Actively involve employees in all business systems development, maintenance, and improvement.
- Participate in periodic management reviews of the quality.
- Manage both daily maintenance and turnaround planning/scheduling.
- Identify and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for Maintenance/Engineering.
- Monitor accuracy of cost allocations to orders and purchase.
- Responsible for monitoring parts warehouse inventory and approving new stock.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Maintenance & Engineering Manager Qualifications:
- B.S. degree preferably in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance / engineering environment.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a maintenance/engineering environment without B.S. degree.
- Experience in a chemical processing or refining environment preferred.
- Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, SAP, and various other software platforms is required.
- Exemplifies high levels of moral and ethical standards and values.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- A clean MVR is required.
