Geotechnical Engineering Principal

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is actively looking for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our award-winning team in Bridgeport, West Virginia. As a Geotechnical Engineering Principal with CEC, you'll be supporting a well-built out, multidisciplinary project schedule - delivering geotechnical solutions that shape your local communities and support critical development. In your role, you'll be responsible for:

• The coordination, management, and supervision of geotechnical subsurface investigations related to civil engineering design (e.g., building foundations, slope stability, earthwork projects, retaining walls, landslides, and pavements)
• Guiding and leading your team through multi-faceted Geotechnical Engineering projects and business development initiatives.
• Assisting with hiring and recruitment decisions, and professional development of the staff, including the performance of annual reviews and the establishment of development goals for staff engineers and field technicians.
• Coordinating project staff to monitor subsurface drilling, obtain soil and rock samples, prepare boring logs, develop laboratory testing programs, interpret laboratory data, complete geotechnical analyses, and prepare detailed geotechnical reports.
• Developing and reviewing proposals and project budgets, managing/mentoring a team of engineers and project managers, and performing final quality control/assurance.
• Guiding the external stakeholders through the project from concept to construction, and ensuring the technical excellence of your projects.
• Leading and growing the Geotechnical Engineering practice through business development and client relationship management.

Qualifications: 15+ years of Civil/Geotechnical Engineering experience (required), Bachelors in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related (required), Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of WV (required), Experience with marketing, business development, project pursuits, and proposal preparation (required), Experience managing projects and project teams related to geotechnical subsurface investigations and/or geotechnical engineering design (required).
