Museum Operations Manager

M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organizational needs and individual performance.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting daily operations including managing service desk, ticketing admission checks, cloak room, galleries and general membership facilities;
  • Managing a designated area allocated by duty manager to supervise a team of casual staff as well as volunteers, venue contractors to ensure the performance of the casual staff is up to standards in order to meet M+ services standards aligned with M+ KPIs;
  • Delivering an engaging visitor experience to all exhibition attendees to the highest possible standard, ensuring a warm welcome and providing assistance and information as and when necessary;
  • Handling and following up on visitor feedbacks promptly and be an agent to communicate within the building for service enhancement;
  • Supporting artwork protection and ensuring visitors are following the house rules;
  • Working closely with relevant parties to ensure excellent visitor experience, including safety and cleanliness, is delivered at all time;
  • Supporting crowd management and control in large scale event;
  • Assisting visitor services operations managers in preparing and enhancing emergency response protocols covering a wide spectrum of incidents that could possibly be happening in the museum environment;
  • Ensuring the team is complying with institutional health and safety guidelines; and
  • Performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by M+.

You should:

  • Possess higher diploma or above in any disciplines; candidate with higher education background would be an advantage;
  • Have preferably 3 years of relevant experience in customer-facing or event supports in art and culture venue or tourism / hospitality industry;
  • Possess approachable personality, cheerful, proactive, customer-oriented, flexible, adaptive to change and detail-minded mindset;
  • Be a good team player with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and cooperatively with others;
  • Have good organizational, planning and administrative skills;
  • Possess First Aid and AED qualification are an advantage;
  • Be proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese; and
  • Require working on weekend and public holiday and occasional evening works according to the duty roster assigned.
