The Language Lead is responsible for ensuring the highest linguistic quality for Hindi deliverables on assigned accounts. This role combines people management, quality ownership, and client engagement, serving as the main point of contact for all language-related matters while supervising and supporting a team of linguists.
Main Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead and coordinate a team of linguists, ensuring alignment with project and client requirements.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, work assignments, and performance evaluations for assigned linguists.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development support.
- Identify training needs and design, maintain, and deliver training programs.
Quality Ownership
- Own the linguistic quality for assigned accounts by defining and executing quality standards and KPIs.
- Conduct translation reviews, provide actionable feedback, and ensure corrections are fully understood and implemented.
- Collaborate with the Quality Department to monitor KPIs, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Support quality planning and oversight, including linguistic quality assurance (LQA) and arbitration.
- Build and maintain linguistic assets (glossaries, style guides, translation memories, documentation).
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary linguistic liaison for terminology, style, product features, and content questions.
- Join client calls to discuss quality, strategy, and feedback; ensure all inputs are documented, clarified, and cascaded to the linguistic team.
- Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) for direct reviews and quality validation.
- Ensure client feedback is accurately implemented and followed up.
Linguistic Production
- Perform translation, review, and LQA tasks as needed.
- Review and evaluate test translations for new linguists.
- Contribute to arbitration processes and provide linguistic expertise in escalations.
Process & Workflow Support
- Monitor workloads, identify workflow challenges, and propose solutions.
- Support onboarding of new teams or accounts when required.
- Participate in and support Welocalize initiatives such as internships and talent development programs.
Requirements
- Experienced linguist with extensive translation and review expertise across multiple content types.
- Native Hindi proficiency with excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Strong leadership, people management, and team coaching skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage quality in large-scale translation projects.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage with clients and internal stakeholders effectively.
