Senior Software Development Engineer In Test
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Technology Enterprise Customer Experience, Remediations & Loudspeaker (TECRL) Team, supporting mission-critical test deliverables.
In this role, you will help define and implement the development and integration of advanced test automation solutions, leveraging the Wells Fargo Automation Framework (WAF) to ensure consistent, scalable, and maintainable quality practices across distributed data systems. You'll drive shift-left testing strategies, embedding quality early in the development lifecycle and partnering closely with engineering, data, and business teams to validate complex data pipelines and services.
You will play a key role in building functional, regression and end-to-end automation. This includes integrating generative AI capabilities to enhance test coverage, accelerate defect detection, and improve overall engineering productivity.
This is a great opportunity for a hands-on automation leader with a strong foundation in Agile methodologies and a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate will bring architectural insight, a passion for embedding quality throughout the development process, and a proven ability to drive innovation in test automation. In this role, you will:
- Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
- Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
- Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
- Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients' needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
- Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years in test automation and programming (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript; Selenium, Playwright, Postman)
- 4+ years of experience in designing and developing custom automation frameworks for web and microservices testing.
- 3+ years with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub)
- 2+ years with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- 2+ years with test strategy planning and leadership, Agile methodologies, shift-left.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in automating web applications using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or similar.
- Deep understanding of Agile frameworks and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), with a focus on shift-left testing and early defect detection.
- Hands-on experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) methodologies
- Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Java (preferred), Python, JavaScript, TestNG, .NET for test automation.
- Passion for continuous learning and improvement, with a track record of evaluating and adopting new automation tools and techniques.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying test results, risks, and quality metrics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
- Experience contributing to enterprise-wide quality engineering transformation initiatives, including Agile adoption and automation maturity.
