Executive Director of American Equities Trading

About This Position:

Wells Fargo's client base in American equities is growing steadily in the EMOA region, and we are looking for an experienced executive director in the field of American securities trading to help us maintain our growth trajectory. This position will be based in Paris. The holder of this position will work in close collaboration with the EMOA region's equity distribution team in Paris, London, and New York to provide the best possible services in American equities products to institutional clients in the EMOA region.

In This Role, You Will Have The Following Responsibilities:

  • Assume the role of a traditional American equities trader, being responsible for both short-term voice transactions and long-term electronic deliveries.
  • Your main product responsibility will be the execution of American securities.
  • A strong level of in-person engagement with clients will be imperative for success.
  • Numerous business travel trips will be expected.
  • Self-generated content intended for use by clients is strongly encouraged. Internal dissemination of this content to the broader team, platform, or clients is encouraged.
  • The WF securities business has an excellent client base consisting of established EU 27 clients. The development and strengthening of these existing and growing relationships between companies concerning this client base will be a key indicator of success in this position.
  • Portfolio share data of AON McLagan/Coalition and absolute production trends for client-related products will be considered essential success criteria in this position. Broker evaluation votes will also be taken into account.
  • A data-driven approach to resource allocation, opportunity prioritization, and outcome assessment will be central to this team. A comparable data-driven approach and ability to convincingly justify business resource decisions, if challenged, will be expected from this senior executive.
  • Handling different securities-related disciplines (research, trading, sales, ECM) and other CIB business areas (corporate and investment banking) to optimize the value proposition for WF clients and expand their footprint will be expected at all times from this senior executive.
  • Culture and conduct are of paramount importance at WF. The candidate must meet all cultural expectations.
  • In accordance with the company-wide expectations on conduct, the candidate must be able to manage conflicts with respect and handle issues in a constructive manner, in a manner compatible with the small team environment.
  • This senior executive will be responsible for helping to mentor, coach, and evaluate emerging WF talent.
  • WF expects all client-facing professionals to be in the office five days a week, as feasible.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in marketing securities, or equivalent experience in one or a combination of the following forms: professional experience, training, military experience, education
  • Strong motivation and a keen sense of relationships with buyers
  • Excellent understanding of dark pools, the retail market, and market structure
  • Team spirit with the ability to sell electronic access and a good understanding of multiple asset classes
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to prospect accounts and manage the integration process simultaneously
  • Strong ability to work closely with the American trading department to ensure that relationships are well cultivated
  • Proficiency in English required. Proficiency in another European language is considered a major asset

Desired Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be particularly dynamic and motivated, but also very collaborative and capable of working in a dynamic, high-performing, and friendly small team environment.
  • The candidate must have extensive experience in dealing with American securities clients and must bring an existing network of relevant institutional relationships.
  • Acting as the concierge of EMOA roadshows for WF content/direction and WF corporate clients executing roadshows across the EMOA region is central to this position. Having comparable experience is indispensable.
