Vcea Internships & Career Services Assistant Director

As the Assistant Director of the Voiland College Internships & Career Services (VCICS), your duties and responsibilities will be performed in support of the VCICS vision, mission, and values, as well as overarching Voiland College Student Success (VCSS) mission and goals. In this role, you will be part of a larger VCSS team that strives to support the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture (VCEA) students to be successful. As part of a larger team, VCICS works alongside tutoring services, academic advising, the VCEA club hub, recruiting, peer mentoring programs, maker space opportunities, and entrepreneurship program.

In this position, you will be responsible for building strong, intentional relationships and advising students in a variety of career development areas including self-discovery and reflection, understanding the world of work, experiential learning, advanced education, and job and internship searching. You will work on designing engaging and meaningful workshops and programs, coordinating networking opportunities, introducing, and connecting students to work-based learning experiences, and developing intentional relationships with employers, faculty, and staff members. Also, you will advise students on various aspects of entering the world of work, including resume writing and interviewing skills while also overseeing the college's student club activities that involve career services. Lastly, as the Assistant Director, you will strive to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

The successful candidate will begin as either a Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1 or Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2 depending upon their experience.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1: $3,750.85 - $4,985 Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2: $4,061.90 - $5,585

Required Qualifications: Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year for-year basis.

Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Required Qualifications for all levels: Demonstrated commitment to customer service Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.) Experience with zoom and MS Teams Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with departmental driving standards. Ability to drive 8-passenger van.

Preferred Qualifications for all levels: Master's Degree Strong preference given to individuals with previous experience in career services, academic advising, human resources, recruiting, or other student service areas at the college/university level Flexible and adaptable Experience working with diverse populations Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter) Experience with WordPress Experience conducting workshops and presentations Experience performing database management, records maintenance, and organization within an office environment Ability to work in a team as well as independently Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings or weekends Ability to perform multiple tasks, take initiative, and solve problems Willing and able to travel to WSU campus locations in Washington.
