Food Service Worker Lead

Under the direction of the Management Team, and indirect supervision of the Manager, this position is responsible for working with unit Chef and culinary team in preparation and presentation of food in assigned area(s) to include: platform menu items, special menus, prep items and catering menu items; develop and ensure proper par stock ordering levels so that sufficient quantities of product are on hand while minimizing waste from over purchasing; ensure proper handling and storage of all food products; and provide an adequate supply of clean, sanitary and properly stored dishware, utensils, and pots and pans to appropriate work locations; maintain cleanliness of all storage areas and loading dock; assists in entry of orders, receiving all food, paper, and cleaning supplies, and other deliveries. Properly store, rotate and organize all food, paper and chemical storage locations in the unit. Responsible for the care of equipment used.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,752 to $4,428 | Range 37 (Steps F-M) Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler's permit AND one year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation AND serving, which includes six months experience directing the work of others; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Washington Food Handler's Permit within 14 days of employment.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two to five years food service experience.
  • Multi-faceted food experience.
  • Experience in a la carte restaurant cooking and various international/ethnic cuisines.
  • Experience leading and training employees.
  • General knowledge of commercial grade kitchen equipment use, safety, and maintenance.
  • One to two years experience in increasingly responsible storeroom positions, to include receiving, storing and organizing all supplies.
