Amazon Prime Air Supply Chain Engineer

At Amazon, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of diversity and inclusion of our teams within the organization. Our teams of hundreds of scientists, engineers, aerospace professionals, and futurists have been working hard to deliver to customers, and are excited for what's to come. Come work on the Amazon Prime Air Team!

Prime Air is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Engineer who combines technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. You will work hard, have fun, and of course, make history!

As a Supply Chain Engineer within Amazon Prime Air, you will own supplier performance across quality, cost, and schedule. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our suppliers can meet production rate, scale, and quality targets while supporting new product introductions and sustaining operations.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Own supplier performance across quality, cost, and schedule
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation to enable consistent and repeatable production
  • Assess and qualify supplier manufacturing capability to meet design intent, production rate, and scalability requirements
  • Build and own should-cost models for key components and assemblies; partner with engineering, sourcing, and finance to identify cost drivers and opportunities for value engineering
  • Lead technical program management for supplier-driven workstreams, aligning build readiness, material availability, and design milestones
  • Review and approve manufacturing process changes, ensuring design compliance, risk mitigation, and smooth implementation through structured change management
  • Plan and execute supplier ramp-ups and new product introductions, coordinating technical readiness, pilot builds, and early production validation
  • Establish performance tracking mechanisms for yield, throughput, and process capability; leverage metrics to identify and close performance gaps
  • Drive root-cause and corrective action activities to resolve quality, delivery, and process issues while enabling long-term improvements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design engineering, sourcing, quality, and operations to align supplier strategy with product and program objectives
  • Develop and deploy scalable mechanisms to monitor, report, and continuously improve supplier manufacturing performance

A day in the life blends day one innovation with disciplined execution. You'll shift between solving urgent supplier issues, building scalable mechanisms, and aligning hardware production across teams. This role thrives in ambiguity—turning chaos into structure, and structure into scalable systems that deliver quality, cost, and schedule at speed.

Our team thrives on collaboration, ownership, and technical excellence. We're a group of self-motivated leaders with deep manufacturing expertise who take on complex challenges, work together to remove obstacles, and deliver meaningful results at scale.

Basic qualifications include:

  • 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in supplier relationship management (e.g. SLAs management, performance/scorecarding)
  • Experience leading engineering design projects and interacting with cross-functional teams
  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% within 24hrs notice.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience
  • Experience building and analyzing cost/benefit scenarios and business cases and communicating results throughout the organization
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and process validation.
  • Proven track record driving new product introductions (NPI) from prototype through volume production.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Tableau, or equivalent) to track supplier and program performance.
