Site Reliability Engineer, Network And Security
Achieve more with Volt. Volt is immediately hiring for a Site Reliability Engineer, Network and Security in Seattle, WA. We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a strong focus on networking and security to join our infrastructure team. This role blends software engineering, systems engineering, and security expertise to ensure the reliability, scalability, and safety of our production environments. You will be responsible for designing resilient systems, automating operations, and safeguarding our networks against evolving threats.
As a Site Reliability Engineer, Network and Security key responsibilities are:
- Network reliability: Design, implement, and maintain highly available and fault-tolerant network infrastructure across on-prem environments.
- Security operations: Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents; implement proactive measures to protect systems and data.
- Automation & tooling: Build and maintain automation frameworks for deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
- Performance monitoring: Develop observability solutions (metrics, logging, tracing) to ensure system health and performance.
- Incident response: Lead troubleshooting efforts during outages, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Collaboration: Partner with software engineers, DevOps, and security teams to embed reliability and security into the development lifecycle.
- Documentation & compliance: Maintain clear documentation of systems, processes, and security controls; ensure compliance with industry standards.
This is a full time opportunity. The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, routing protocols.
- Security expertise: Familiarity with IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, and secure coding practices.
- Programming & scripting: Proficiency in Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages for automation and tooling.
- Infrastructure as Code: Implement CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments and configuration management. Hands-on with Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Experience with Linux systems administration and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Monitoring & observability: Experience with Prometheus, Grafana or equivalent is nice to have.
- Nice to have cloud platforms: Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking and security services.
- Problem-solving mindset: Ability to diagnose complex issues under pressure and implement long-term fixes.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications: CCNP, CISSP, AWS Security Specialty, or equivalent.
- Experience with containers: Kubernetes, Docker networking, and security hardening.
- Zero Trust architecture: Knowledge of modern security frameworks and practices.
- Performance tuning: Skills in optimizing network throughput and latency.
Pay Rate: $55.00-80.00/hour
Pay rate offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
