Service Manager

The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Service Department in Yakima, WA. The role involves scheduling shop and field repair work, assigning associates to work orders, and directing technicians to ensure organized and profitable equipment repair.

Responsibilities

  • Lead service, delivery, and admin teams to achieve high performance.
  • Build strong customer relationships and consistently exceed expectations.
  • Maximize team productivity and meet service goals.
  • Efficiently dispatch and manage service work orders.
  • Account for labor hours and improve shop layout and tool usage.
  • Ensure prompt billing for customer and internal work.
  • Collaborate with the Rental Manager on damage billing.
  • Monitor technician training and schedule accordingly.
  • Review monthly service reports for compliance.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and dispose of unused items.
  • Schedule and direct technician work.
  • File accident reports and promote safety practices.
  • Coordinate with the Warranty Supervisor on parts returns.
  • Assist HR in hiring qualified service personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on service experience.
  • Familiarity with light and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Quality-focused and open to feedback.
  • Team-oriented with strong coaching abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills via PC, cell, and tablet.
  • Proficient in company and productivity software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, heavy equipment, pneumatics, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with excavators, diesel engines, preventive maintenance, repair, and diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with brands like Caterpillar, Toyota, and Hyster.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance and construction equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs unaided.
  • Must be able to drive a company van/truck if needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Yakima, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $51.92/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
