Work Schedule

UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center at Harborview is a five operating room surgical unit with supporting pre-operative, post-operative, and sterile processing departments.

Department Description

The UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center will provide daytime surgical procedures to the community of patients that meet developed criteria.

About The Outpatient Surgery Center

The New Outpatient Surgery Center opening on the Harborview Campus is located on the 4th floor of Ninth and Jefferson Building (NJB) and will open January 2026 to patients. The Surgery Center will feature 5 operating rooms, 12 pre/post bays, and sterile processing. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday with no holidays, weekends, or night hours. The Center will offer same-day surgery procedures utilizing state-of–the-art equipment to our community of patients that meet the necessary criteria. This reflects the Center's innovative, patient-centered culture, supporting ongoing operational efficiencies and quality improvements. The goal is to provide a seamless, low-stress surgical experience for each patient, surgeon, and staff member. The unit will provide a soothing environment with natural lighting and patient privacy.

Primary Job Responsibilities (Per/Post Op)

  • Patient admit to the unit
  • Patient teaching and discharge
  • Administration of pre and post operative medications
  • Continuous patient pre and post operative assessment
  • Documentation in Epic
  • Participation in quality improvement projects

Requirements

Graduated from an accredited school of nursing Two or more years perioperative experiences Has a WA/MSL RN license to practice in the state of Washington.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
