Nutrition Food Service Employee

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months truck driving experience on a commercial delivery truck or a vehicle greater than twenty (20) feet; to include manual and standard transmissions, within the last ten (10) years.
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License. Ability to pass district administered truck driving course.
  • Must have and maintain excellent driving record. Must supply the district a personal driving abstract prior to assignment and on an annual basis.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Food Workers Card.

  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Constantly (67-100%): sit, talk, hear, see, smell, operate controls, handle/grasp multiple vehicle items
  • Occasionally (6-33%): stand, walk, crouch, twist, reach at waist, use fingers, operate controls, lift up to 10 pounds
  • Rarely (1-5%): climb, bend, crouch, kneel, reach below waist or over shoulder, lift or carry 21 to 50 pounds, push or pull more than 20 pounds
  • Maintain composure under stress in the presence of emotionally and physically challenging interactions
  • May be exposed to weather, wetness and/or humidity, vibration, odors/fumes, dust

Essential Functions:

  • Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students.
  • Work in a flexible and cooperative manner.
  • Drive a manual or standard transmission truck to deliver carts of food to various satellite kitchens, ensuring proper temperatures are maintained. Take corrective actions following established Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) standard operating procedures for the child nutrition services program. Deliveries are made on a time sensitive schedule to multiple kitchens located throughout the district. Includes loading and unloading of carts, moving carts to designated site staging areas, and complete proof of delivery.
  • Pick up empty food carts at satellite schools and return to central kitchens.
  • Make other deliveries to district locations as required.
  • Perform daily maintenance on vehicle; notify transportation mechanics if more extensive maintenance is required.
  • May assist in Warehouse as needed, including taking inventory.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

It is understood that the district has the right to transfer and assign employees to best fit the needs of the district.

Benefits/Compensation:

Salary range: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service in a similar occupational status from other Washington School Districts or Education School Districts, may receive experience credit towards salary placement. Salary schedules can be accessed here.
