Reliability Engineer

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) seeks professional, innovative and detailed individuals for our Reliability Engineer position located at our headquarters in Pullman, Washington. The Reliability Engineer will develop a detailed understanding of SEL power protection, monitoring, automation, and control system tools and products and how those tools and products are deployed. The incumbent will apply the concepts, principles, practices, and procedures of electrical engineering and:

  1. generate reliability deliverables for electrical power system product development initiatives;
  2. conduct new electrical power system product risk assessments;
  3. develop and review electrical power system products, reliability test plans, and acceptance criteria for new products;
  4. prepare and maintain electrical power system product documentation (including reliability and technical analysis reports, project notebooks, and other associated test documentation);
  5. analyze field failure information and report opportunities for improvements to product owners;
  6. review engineering change orders for quality and reliability impact;
  7. execute product tests, draft product test reports, and provide general electrical power system product reliability test support;
  8. identify, measure, follow, and improve SEL's electrical power system reliability processes by closely studying, discussing, and questioning those procedures; and
  9. attend SEL marketing, sales, and other development activities while providing appropriate engineering support, as required.
