Reality Labs Image Sensors Team Position

The Reality Labs Image Sensors team is looking for an image sensor application engineer to drive bring-up and integration of CMOS image sensors into ground-breaking products across our Wearables and VR product lines. The image sensor application engineer will coordinate with other members of the image sensor team, including sensor engineers and characterization/validation engineers and work with a cross-functional team of system, electrical, optical, physical design, firmware, software and computer vision engineers to make significant impact by solving novel, complex integration problems. The initial focus of the role will be on global shutter sensors used for computer vision but may also expand to include rolling shutter sensors and their applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Support integration of image sensors into camera modules, working with hardware engineers to optimize module design and Meta and vendor software/firmware engineers to enable camera bring-up and test
  • Support integration of image sensors into products, working with software/firmware engineers to enable correct sensor operation and work with computer vision engineers to co-optimize sensor settings tuning
  • Create and maintain reference documentation repositories, including vendor datasheets and application notes, creating internal application notes where no material exists
  • Create forums for sensor users to be informed and share learnings across projects
  • Collect issues identified through module & system-level evaluation and convey those back to sensor DRIs and vendor application engineers, advocating for fixes and/or improvements, where needed
  • Drive creation of compelling demonstrations of new technology, working closely with sensor, camera, hardware and software/firmware engineers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience with CMOS Imaging Sensors
  • Understanding of image sensor design: pixels, analog readout and serial interfaces

  • Firmware development experience using C/C++
  • Scripting language experience using Python or MATLAB
  • Experience communicating complex technical data and information in an appropriate way to a wide range of audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in electronics, software or imaging-related technologies
  • Previous application engineering experience supporting imaging systems
  • Computer vision experience
  • Experience working in an electro-optical laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with protocols such as MIPI, I2C and I3C
