The Division of Student Affairs has an opportunity for a Program Support Supervisor I to join their team. This individual will be part of the Office of Student Advocacy and Support, performing a variety of complex assignments including supporting students in meeting their food security needs as a member of the basic needs support team. The UW Tacoma basic needs support program provides holistic support for students who are experiencing hunger, ensuring academic success and preparation for lifelong achievement after graduation from post-secondary education.

This Program Support Supervisor position will exclusively support the Pantry and the Cupboard – programs that exist on campus year round to provide access to food at no cost (and for the Pantry also non-food based items) to all currently enrolled UW Tacoma students. Under the direct supervision of the Director for Student Conduct and Advocacy, the Pantry Manager supervises program support student staff involved in the daily operations of the Pantry and the Cupboard, and the development of program policies and budgets for food support programs. They interview and recommend a selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action. Under general direction from the Director of Student Conduct and Advocacy, they perform work using knowledge and experience specific to the program; assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating policies; devise and implement new procedures; and develop information to support budgetary requests and project income and expenditures specifically for the Pantry and the Cupboard.

Duties and responsibilities include hiring student staff, establishing performance standards, evaluating job performance, providing training, creating schedules and approving timesheets, ensuring accuracy, recommending corrective action. Supervises student assistants to include planning of hunger awareness projects, events, shift coverage, scheduling, and training development. Manages the day to day operations of the Pantry to include ordering food, staying current with health department requirements, cleanliness of both the Pantry and the Cupboard, identifying new sources of food procurement (with Director for Student Advocacy and Support). In partnership with the Administrative Specialist, oversees the Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC) budget. Develops, designs, and implements Pantry operations data collection, ensuring compliance with UW procedures to obtain and store food, supervise budget expenditures and budget reconciliations, building and maintaining community partnerships, developing promotional materials, and networking on-campus partnerships for sustainability. Work in collaboration with the Basic Needs Navigator to coordinate off campus partnerships to enhance food security for campus. Advises students, staff and faculty regarding food insecurity on campus with promotional materials and manages the webpage providing efficient and effective online internal communication with students, staff and faculty.

Minimum requirements include high school graduation or equivalent AND three years of applicable experience in the program specialty. Additional requirements include demonstrated success working with diverse populations, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and proficiency with various computer systems.
