Pcb Layout Engineer
The RLR Hardware Engineering team is seeking a PCB Layout Engineer. You will complete designs involving the test and prototype electrical systems for future consumer virtual reality (AR/VR) experiences. You will become a key member of all the teams within research exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. We are looking for a proactive and collaborative individual who can thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
PCB Layout Engineer Responsibilities:
- Work with the Hardware Engineering team(s) to provide schematic and PCB board designs.
- Collaborate with PCB vendors to select proper materials, stack-ups, obtain impedance specifications, DFX rulesets, assembly requirements, and resolve any manufacturing related issues.
- Create and manage PCB documentation including fabrication and assembly packages.
- Work with the document control department to release fab and assembly packages into the company-wide PLM system.
- Create and maintain schematic symbols and PCB footprints among multiple libraries.
- Work closely with ECAD librarian(s) on maintaining and expanding the company-wide library.
- Collaborate in a team environment across engineering disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of PCB design experience using Altium and/or Cadence/Allegro.
- Knowledge of IPC, JEDEC, IEEE, and other electronic standards.
- Experience in creating schematic symbols and PCB footprints in libraries.
- Experience interpreting datasheets and schematics to generate netlists and proper constraints in the layout design.
- Experience in designing multiple PCB types: HDI, Rigid, Rigid-FPC, Wire Bonding, Metal Backed, Metal Core, etc.
- Experience in PCB layout design constraints for mixed/RF signal, signal impedance control, memory interfaces, power distribution, heat dissipation, and optimization for EMI performance.
- Experience in designing high speed differential circuits, power circuits, analog and RF circuits.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Altium Enterprise/Concord Pro or similar library management systems.
- Proven track record to design & manage all aspects of the printed board design.
- 10+ years of experience of PCB layout design using Altium or Cadence/Allegro.
- Experience with SVN, GIT, Perforce, or similar version control systems.
Public Compensation: $111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
