Internship Opportunity at Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines interns join teams throughout different departments and work on visible projects that impact our guests and business. Interns get the opportunity to network with fellow employees and company leaders through various intern events and programming. Interns also receive unlimited standby travel benefits during their internship, which means that many weekends are filled with jet setting across our growing network. This internship is for summer 2026. Our internships are full-time for 12 weeks, and we offer two program timelines to align with different academic calendars. This internship will be located in SeaTac, WA. If not already in the internship city, candidates will be required to relocate for the duration of the internship.

Key Duties

  • Learns the basics of assigned aircraft towing plans, station equipment capabilities, station staffing schedules and develops, generates, prototypes, and implements to each major project for the functional area(s).
  • Learns to interact and partner with other key M&E departments such as Station Directors, Maintenance Control, and Line Planning as part of project development and prototyping.
  • Interacts with Line Maintenance on Flight Operations to assist with investigation and resolution of increasing technician productivity.
  • Learn Alaska's proactive approach to maintenance and reliability, as well as providing responsive customer service.
  • Learn Line Maintenance procedures associated with task completion and assist with development or improvement to existing procedures for productivity and Safety gains.
  • Learns new hire technician onboarding, training, and task assignments. Review opportunities for efficiency gains and recommend enhanced processes for improved onboarding and training experience.
  • Learns key metrics and basic use of trending and analysis tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required:

  • Working toward a degree in aviation engineering (aerospace, electrical or mechanical) or a related aviation discipline.
  • Excellent communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening), presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship.
  • Must have achieved a junior or higher academic standing at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Starting Rate: USD $25.00/Hr.

Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and Horizon Air pay and benefits can vary by company, location, number of regularly scheduled hours worked, length of employment, and employment status.

  • Free stand-by travel privileges on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines & Horizon Air (flight processing fee may apply depending on the company being hired into and the airline being booked)
  • Travel benefits begin on day one
